Course Description
The Department of Internal Medicine at the West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University was established in the early 1900 with the founding of our Medical School, which is one of the earliest medical schools in China. Our department is famous in China because of our history, facilities, faculties, educational quality, and research achievement. There are 8 divisions in our department, they are: pulmonary disease, cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology, nephrology, endocrinology, rheumatology and infectious disease. Among them the division pulmonary disease and gastroenterology are the international key disciplines. To award the top educational quality of our department, our website of internal medicine is named as high education classic course of our province in 2006. The chief our department now is professor Feng yuling and professor Wang yipping responsible for the educational affairs of our department, at the same time professor wang is the director of internal medicine teaching program. The course of internal medicine is the most important and basic course for medical student in our school, which will last for one year and 210 hours. Generally the calendar for internal medicine is arranged twice a week, 3 hours once. Among the whole 210 hours there are 34 lectures for 105 hours and other 105 hours are used for clerk in small group. Medical students will learn and rotate 7 divisions except infectious disease which will be taught in another course.
